The Alchemy of Appreciation: It Turns Inner Misery into Radiant Joy
Here’s How a Simple Two-Fold Practice Reveals Your Divine Right to Unshakable Happiness
Our Divine Nature pulses with happiness and Joy, yet life's challenges and ego's relentless whispers often cloak their Light, pulling us into shadows of needless stress. We absorb negativity from people, events, and the collective consciousness around us, forgetting these are exterior to us and not ours. The moment we awaken to this truth, we begin appreciating life and reclaim our power to choose Appreciation for all things.
The Darkness of Others’ Stress: A Wake-Up Call
At the beginning of the year, I was dealing with two very stressed out people—for reasons I didn’t fully know at the time. They took their frustrations out on me, treating me oppressively, judgmentally, and unfairly. The reasons they shared for their distress were understandable to a point, but they'd created a whole negative scenario in their minds, living in a self-created hell, and they were trying to drag me in.
I was incredulous: How could these events possibly be in my life when I’d been so diligent at attracting only the highest timelines? That’s what I kept mulling over in my mind and good thing because I got an answer.
It was actually a blessing that one heavy week took place. It forced me out of my unconsciousness.
I took a good, hard look at myself and how I was living my life. That’s when I realized I had been devoting way too much time, energy, and neurons to thoughts about them that weren’t the most complimentary. These thoughts were disdainful if I’m honest. And its the reason I’d attracted the nasty treatment I received from them.
I absorbed it all at the time. It didn’t bounce off me as it would have had I been more conscious with my thoughts. By my thoughts, I’d attracted a timeline where they were lower-frequency expressions of themselves—and me right along with them.
It was all the little things I thought about them that became big things in my life. I could finally see it so clearly.
I recall stopping in my tracks shortly after the series of incidents, noticing my eyebrows knitted and a scowl on my face. Where did my happiness go? I’d been happy just a month prior. How did this happen so quickly? I didn’t like it at all. I’d been so happy about being happy. And I wanted it back.
Creating Your Own Heaven by Choice: The Power of Focused Thought
So I made an about-face. I resolved to no longer think about this couple even for a second. I would only think about them if it involved the work at hand and even then I’d keep my thoughts strictly to the project. I made this my new rule.
It just wasn’t worth wasting my time, energy, and valuable thought neurons to people and their stuff who were external to me.
And I also resolved to dwell on imaginations of always and only being treated respectfully by all people I encountered.
I got happy again, literally, overnight. And it felt so much better.
This proves how much power we have in our choices—the power to be happy and joyful even when others would love to drag us down into their muck.
After a few months an amazing thing happened. One of the two began treating me with Love to the point I was like, “Wait a minute. What happened? How can this be?” It was that much of a turnaround. Not only that, it was consistent, week after week.
Then a short time later they revealed to me the deeper reasons for their stress. And all I could feel was Love for them.
The point of my story is we create our own heaven or hell and it’s all a choice.
We may find ourselves in some version of hell, but we can quickly shift it. Even a slight shift is perfect enough—
a shift into deliberately imagining what we truly want to live out in our lives;
a shift into appreciating all the blessings we have including and most importantly, the power of our minds.
We often devote our brain’s neurons to the wrong things. And in compliance with Universal Law, whatever we dwell on, we create. Not only that, the more we dwell on it, the bigger it gets.
In my Imaginations of only what I desired including how I wanted to be treated by others, I focused on taking all the good, beautiful and true aspects of my life and appreciating them fully. I wanted to make them even more prominent in my life. And so I’d feel myself appreciating everyone I encountered treating me with Love and respect.
And since then, at least twice, I’ve been struck finding myself in very noticeable timeline shifts. Many aspects of my life look the same but many are remarkably improved, elevated, expanded. And I’m not exaggerating to say that when I go out in public, people I don’t know are practically laying flowers at my feet.
The Cage of Compromise: Breaking Free from Inauthenticity
We all go through periods of misery and it’s no fun, but we must realize these periods are self-created. If we created them, we can discreate them.
You can get happy very quickly and stay that way.
Misery and joylessness are signals you’ve simply allowed darker aspects to cloak your Light. Remove those aspects. Supplant them with Appreciation and focused Imagination of what you’d appreciate even more, and you’re free.
Knowing Joy and happiness are a choice means we can do something about the misery we feel.
I was part of a spiritual group of people and pretty happy in it for a long time, but then the dynamics of the group changed. Rules, dogmas and judgment got established as the norm for participation. And I felt imprisoned. I felt like I was dishonoring myself all over the place.
I cried a lot of tears, torn between staying and leaving. I wanted to do the right thing and stay (according to the rules) but I so badly wanted to leave and be free. There was inner conflict.
I tried to make it all work but I bucked the rules here and there and the group saw me rocking their boat, detrimental to the group’s unity. That’s the crazy part because I’d consistently been a team player 1000%.
In conflict, I was abjectly miserable. When you go against your personal integrity you feel miserable, sad and depressed. It’s because you’re compromising yourself and who you are. You compromise yourself every time you seek the approval of another. You’re tap dancing to the tune of other people instead of appreciating and loving yourself—the one who matters most in your life. And those other people… they probably don’t appreciate you and who you are. So move on.
Misery, tears, sadness are your soul crying out, trying to get your attention so you can return to yourself, to your Divine Nature—Joy.
Ultimately, both soul and Spirit cannot abide self-compromise and inauthenticity. Voilà the conflict, which makes you terribly unhappy.
Reconnect with your Self. Appreciate greatly your soul, Spirit and Oversoul.
Like a bird, your Spirit is always going to want to fly. If you can’t fly, be free and be real, you’re going to be unhappy. The lens you see life through is constantly dirty which makes you less than conscious.
Keeping yourself conscious and aware is what keeps your lens free and clear.
Through a dirty lens nothing looks good to you and because of that negative thinking you start attracting negative in your life, maybe even a piral of things gone wrong.
And then here’s the kicker: If you don’t do something soon to turn it all around, your emotional and mental misery will turn into physical sickness. Now there’s a powerful motivator for turning misery around.
Igniting Appreciation: The Simple Path to Swift Joy
So what’s a good first step to turn it all around?
When I was so miserable in my spiritual group all I wanted was to be happy again. I got out of the group—that was number one.
So intense was my desire to be joyful again, I happened to find a wall hanging with the message:
She designed a life she loved.
I bought it and hung it over my bed so I could look at it every day and get mentally refocused.
And I put Appreciation into some serious motion.
I’d drive down the road and see a butterfly and appreciate it.
If I heard the shriek of a child at play, I’d appreciate it.
I’d look at the sun shining down and appreciate its warm and radiant energy.
You know, the simple things.
After a few days, I started to feel Appreciation instantly without even consciously making it happen.
And then I noticed, slowly but surely, I was feeling that happiness I was after.
The word appreciate means to value highly. Value highly every single little thing for they all have consciousness and are signs of Divine Life. Even the tiny grain of sand deserves to be valued highly by you.
I could enumerate a list of practices to quickly get you happy once again. These include creating a structure for your life, exercising, meditating, properly nourishing your body, cleaning and decluttering your home, removing negative influences. But most of all you want to do these two:
First, appreciate, appreciate, appreciate every little thing. I can’t stress enough how important this is. If you did nothing other than appreciate everything your eyes light on, you’ll get happy.
At first, this may be an exercise you have to almost force. Find things everywhere to appreciate deeply: =
the butterfly, the breeze, the church bell ringing, the droplets of rain, the child squealing with delight, the smile of an elderly person, your fine dinner, your cup of cappuccino.
Eventually, actually within days, this practice will take on a life of its own and you’ll never have to force it.
Instead, you’ll not only appreciate all of life, you’ll be happy. Your happiness will swell and continue to swell.
Second, guard your mind. You can’t create anything you desire if you’re dwelling on the past or taking other people’s inventory. Use your mind for good. Imagine magnificently!
Attracting yourself to the timelines you truly desire can only happen in the present moment. They come to you when you imagine yourself living them with your whole soul. Be the Free Spirit you are at your core.
Live in an ambiance of Appreciation and Imagination. Revel in it. Make this your whole world.
This will work absolute wonders in your life.
You will rediscover yourself. There’s someone to love and appreciate there. Focus on that.
Joy and happiness are your Divine Nature.
And when you feel and express Appreciation, you’re expressing Love. And then you can do nothing other than attract every good, beautiful and true thing you desire to experience.
Embracing Your Eternal Flame: A Call to Radiant Living
Misery is a temporary detour but truly, Joy is your eternal address. You have the power to shift and to polish the lens you look through crystal clear. Design the life you feel in the belly of your soul—free, authentic, alive with wonder.
Do it by feeling Appreciation not just occasionally but daily and then all through the day.
Train your thoughts on uplifting Imaginations of your desired life. These Imaginations are joyful themselves. Let them swell unchecked and rediscover your radiant Self waiting beneath the surface.
You don’t achieve this alchemy by chasing happiness superficially. You unveil it as your profound Birthright, your Divine Nature, by connecting with your Self who knows Appreciation on the deepest levels.
